Rubber Duck Race 2011

We all packed up and headed to Sundance for the Semi-Annual Rubber Duck Race. We kicked the morning off with a trip to the local bowling alley to get our competitive juices flowing...

After talking alot of smack my Dad actually won! (I'll never live that one down) Thai came in 2nd and Travis and Kennedy tied for 3rd and well we won't embarrass my mom by telling the rest of the places.:-)
After lunch we headed back up the hill to check out the remains of a major avalanche!

this picture doesn't do it justice but the kids sure thought it was cool that they could sit on a tree that had been knocked down. Mother Nature was clearly having a bad day.
Then it was time to race! Us Hartmans take this very seriously. Here are the boys evaluating the course.

It was a tight race. The kids went first, and the Gunn clan represented very well! Here are the excited munchkins ripping their presents open!

As always Grammy and Bubba totally out did themselves! The rain was starting to fall so we quickly got in the adult race. Trav and I who usually take last came in second to last!! Shocker!! We were even more shocked when part of the prize was a free ticket to AFRICA!!!! Seriously so amazing!
So sad to think we will have to wait 18 months before the next race.
The next day we all headed home to my parents house to be there when they were set apart as full time missionaries. It was a very cool night. The Africans are some pretty lucky people! My parents are so excited for this new adventure and we are thrilled to be apart of it! Here are the fresh new missionaries!

*UPDATE* They have offically completed one day in the MTC and love it. And what's even more impressive my Mom was actually up AND ready for 7:30 classes the next day. Clearly the spirit can do marvolous things!
